Who Are We?

We are the Rotary Club of Chippenham Wiltshire Vale.  Part of Great Britain and Ireland District 1200, which itself is part of the worldwide Rotary organisation of 31,000 clubs in 167 countries, with over 1.2 million members.

Established in 1990, currently we have around 23 members both male and female. The club is relatively small with a relaxed atmosphere and the emphasis is on friendship and community service.  We raise between 5-10 thousand pounds each year for local and some international charities

Anyone with a modest urge to benefit the local community ,who is also prepared to spend some time  raising money for the disadvantaged in the world, and doesn’t mind having a good time in the process is welcome to come to meetings and take a look at Rotary in action.

Our main fundraising efforts are Dragon Boat racing on the river Avon, alongside Monkton Park, the Street Fair in conjunction with Chippenham Folk Festival at the end of May-Bank Holiday, Supermarket and Whitehall Garden Centre charity collections for children’s hospices, Pre Christmas.

The main areas of Rotary Service are:

  1. Club Service these members mainly organise the club programme for the year.
  2. Community/Vocational-Community service activities members who organise the “Kid’s Out” event for disadvantaged children at Longleat House in June being our main community event.
  3. International - We have donated regularly to a school project in Kerala.2 club members have visited the project.
  4. New Generations. Our involvement is with the local “Youth Speaks” debating competition, young chef and other similar activities.
  5. Foundation, Rotary’s own charity. Our involvement is usually with donations to the campaign to End Polio.
  1. Other categories with a club member lead include Sports, Membership, PR/Communications.

Each year we like to support our international campaign to End Polio and have a frugal meal.  Proceeds support this cause.
