With global membership of over 1 million men and women and across over 100 countries, Rotary International prides itself on the breadth and scale of it’s international activities. These activities cover such important issues as education, health and poverty ranging from emergencies and crises to longer term projects and contacts. The nature of activity involves Group Study Exchange, Peace Scholarships and Rotary Friendship Exchange amongst many other initiatives.
Each year our Club donates over 20% of it’s income from fundraising to international emergencies, links and projects. Shelterbox, Emergency box, World Water works and Rotary Foundation itself ( our major international charity supporting such projects as Polio Plus ) feature annually in our donations amongst many others. We have links with Clubs in Kerala ( India ), Belgium and France and further links are always welcome emanating from membership contacts.
In terms of projects we have initiated a teacher exchange scheme in India and support SISP a broadly based education, health and training project ( see website SISP India ) on a continuing basis.
International links are dependent on members interests and desire for involvement and if you are attracted to this vital area of Rotary there is always much to do and many opportunities available, whether encouraging involvement in the locality from schools and organisations or developing and contributing to projects anywhere in the world.
